Future Media Concepts: A Glimpse Into MY Future

FMC2

This semester, I have been working as a Marketing Intern for the company Future Media Concepts. For the past few weeks, I have been learning so much about the marketing industry and gaining plenty of useful experience. Although I am in my junior year as an advertising major, marketing has always been something I have been interested in since it is so closely related to advertising. My manager is great and lets me do a variety of projects. I work on e-mail campaigns (which has lead me to learn the ins and outs of the program SalesForce), help manage and create content for their social media sites, write blog posts on WordPress, and will also be a part of preparing an event that will be happening in May.

Reporting Live From CBS News…

Okay, so I know the title may sound misleading and you may think I am a news reporter but I actually have a better position and that’s being a sales intern at CBS 3! After applying to thousands of positions relating to sales and marketing at various companies, I was luckily chosen by CBS 3 to be a part of their team as an intern for the Spring semester. Being an intern at a television station has given me a deeper look into what goes on behind the scenes of a station and discovering the many departments that maintain the company’s operation. In my area, the sales department, I am surrounded by Account Executives who are basically the “meat and potatoes” of the station. The Account Execs generate a huge portion of the revenue for the station making them a very valuable and admirable group. Every day that I am there I learn something new from their experiences and appreciate their willingness to give me insight into the industry. When I am assigned tasks it’s not just faxing or copying–I’m actually doing REAL work. Upon starting the internship I was not sure how little or how much I’d actually perform beneficial tasks but turns out that I have been responsible for some pretty important things. Having that responsibility builds my confidence even more and prepares me for the real world. So far, I have created  power point slides for client pitches and presentations, researched different companies for prospects, accompanied reps to client meetings, attended department meetings and the list goes on- (oh, I also forgot to mention how extremely delightful, and pleasant EVERYONE is as well!).  Even when there are slow moments, I will explore different areas just to get a feel and understanding of the numerous roles within the station. Having this experience at CBS 3 definitely confirms that this is the industry for me. I enjoy being involved with media and I truly hope to pursue a position within this field!

Factory PR Internship in NYC!

Lelia Shams Fashion Show

This semester, I received an opportunity to intern at Factory PR in NYC.  As an advertising major here at Temple University, I went into this internship knowing very little about PR.  Through this internship, I am learning more ins and outs about the PR business and I am starting to enjoy my time here.  Although it is a tough business (YES! NYC is all about being fast paced) but I so far love it and is thinking about PR as my future career!

A New Beginning

Hi there my name is Katherine Caceres and I have started interning at the World Affairs Council in Center City Philadelphia. I have only been an intern for a couple of weeks now but  I really enjoy going into the office. I found this wonderful internship via the portal that the Fox School of Business has provided its students. Interning for the World Affairs Council has taught me a lot of responsibility. It has somewhat taught me what the real world will be like. I have to act professionally and dress the part as well. It has taught me also to be confident in my work and to not be afraid to ask questions. I am determined to excel in any assignment that I am given and to have other employees come to me when they need help. A positive aspect of the business that I discovered through my work at the World Affairs Council is that I have learned time management and how to work efficiently and effectively. An aspect of interning at the World Affairs Council is that it is mandatory to attend all speaking events therefore I have sat through various inspirational world leaders that have motivated me. This experience so far is everything that I want it to be. I have learned a lot about myself. Since I am so new to the internship I have yet done anything that I regret. I really have been trying hard in the working environment. By interning at the World Affairs Council I learned that it is okay to make mistakes but if I am unsure of anything that I should not be afraid to ask. I learned that an office should be comfortable for the employees and everybody should be comfortable with each other and it is important to work in a great working environment which the World Affairs Council is.
