Its that time of year again folks–that festive part of the year when people will take any excuse to throw a party involving ugly sweaters or the phrase “potluck”. At this time of year more than any other I think its easy to get lost in the design shuffle; all the colors and themes are the same and it often feels like everyone has had every possible holiday idea at least twice. On the other hand, I think that such a huge commercial emphasis is placed on the “feeling” of these holidays, (especially in the U.S) that its very easy to miss the mark and try too hard or not enough. If you have any holiday projects and need some inspiration, check out these holiday posters. Most of them are from BeHance, which is a great website in general for design porn.
- I love the leaf/snowflake made out of beer, but this whole poster is a great example of getting the holiday feeling right without trying too hard.
- This reminds me of watching the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family. Unfortunately I couldn’t find who NHD is..
- Hope this isn’t inappropriate; its such a good example of outside-the-box holiday design I couldn’t resist.
- I can’t believe how much information there is on this poster, (and actual sales circulars I guess). The typography is incredibly well placed.
- This poster makes Thanksgiving look like its about something edgy and cool.
- I love his font choices. They remind me of the Midnight Express, classic 40’s Christmas
- At first I thought it was bland, but being for a band concert the simplicity and understated design is perfect.
