98.1 WOGL: Behind the Personalities

Before I started at my internship at Philadelphia’s radio station, 98.1 WOGL, I had no idea what I was going to do or what I would even be interested in doing. I had no knowledge of radio and honestly never…

Growth at Allied Integrated Marketing

What has my experience at Allied taught me? Way more than a skill that can only be used in an office setting. On my first day at Allied, I already knew that this was not what I wanted to do career wise…

How to: Design Well With Others

In advertising as well as many other industries, you are never going to work by yourself. Collaboration is always going to be necessary, whether you like it or not.

Becoming a More Creative Thinker.

One major thing I am learning while being at my internship is to not be afraid to share my ideas. I am a Marketing & Event Planning Intern at Duke & Winston- a men's clothing boutique on Chestnut Street. It is a start up company that just opened a store in June. Being the only intern at the moment and also being short staffed in general, my boss tends to share a lot of his ideas with me, for all aspects of the store - whether he is stressed about sales, trying to come up with a new social media campaign or just trying to organize the display in the windows. It makes me feel like more than just an intern working on a specific project.
I enjoy being a part of not just marketing and events, but just anything going on in the store. Anything that comes to mind I suggest, even if I don't think my boss would love the idea. Sharing ideas helps come up with totally different ones. I will say whatever comes to mind for a new social media campaign. I have to admit there are times when the idea sounded better in my head, then I said it and it made no sense. But I realized that that's OK, because we then took those crazy ideas and turned them into very successful campaigns.

Small Team, Big Family

Editing: A Necessary Evil

I’m not just talking about spell check. Go read it forward, backwards, and sideways. Read it out loud like a monologue to your roommates. Does it sound good? Great. Now go make it better. Can’t? Let new eyes see it…

To Brand a City – Ways My Brain is Growing

What’s the best thing about Philadelphia? Well it has to be its diversity. Diversity of people, culture, art, events, neighborhoods, etc. So maybe it’s ironic that the best thing about Philly seems to make it somewhat hard to brand. How…
