Interning for a Gym

On my first day going into Weston Fitness I was not really sure what to expect, which I assume is the norm for most students doing their first internship. I wasn’t really sure if my time here would be spent mostly on advertising or marketing, since the description said both.
It turns out that it was a really good mix of both. There was one other intern working with me and we worked together on most things throughout the semester. My favorite marketing activity was walking around Philadelphia once a month and handing out “free 3-day passes” to local stores and corporate lobbies. It was great to get out in the city and just talk to people about the gym. We ended up handing out at least a hundred fitness passes every month.
On the advertising side, we were both required to come up with and create two advertisements per month on Photoshop. I had to learn Photoshop for the first time, but it was fun once I got the hang of it. We would send the ads to our boss and he would pick is favorite or create his own to display in the front of the building for that month. My ad only got picked once and he had to modify it, but I guess I expected that because I am in Account Management, not creative.

Heres an example of one of my ads:
