So, when French powerhouse fashion retail company La Redoute published a photo of four children in La Redoute swimwear on a beach with a completely naked man in the background, its no surprise the “mistake” caused…

Minority Rules…? The Gap logo https://templeadlib.com/minority-rules-the-gap-logo/ https://templeadlib.com/minority-rules-the-gap-logo/#comments Wed, 13 Oct 2010 13:44:09 +0000 https://smc.temple.edu/ad-lib/?p=2091 So I’m in Art Direction 2 (my first class of the day) and there is a sudden uproar over The Gap’s logo incident. I’m delightfully indifferent. To me, The Gap is just a brand and the logo is just a logo. Last night I was watching The Nightly News with Brian Williams and he spoke about some of the Ad Age polling results in regards to the issue. From Ad Age: We had an ongoing discussion about…

Nike: Tiger… Did you learn anything? https://templeadlib.com/nike-tiger-did-you-learn-anything/ https://templeadlib.com/nike-tiger-did-you-learn-anything/#respond Thu, 08 Apr 2010 18:17:36 +0000 https://smc.temple.edu/ad-lib/?p=907 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIYejgkqd0o This is my kind of spot. Peta: Human Meat… https://templeadlib.com/peta-human-meat/ https://templeadlib.com/peta-human-meat/#comments Mon, 15 Mar 2010 16:28:01 +0000 https://smc.temple.edu/ad-lib/?p=582 While this isn’t a new campaign, it’s still worth a mention. Last year Peta did a number of “demonstrations” using “human meat” with the slogan “meat is murder.” It’s definitely attention-getting. I’ve seen a couple of films about the truth behind processed meat and it’s not pretty. It’s one of those questionable things that we know about but don’t want to acknowledge (think smoking).

Too Much or Just Enough? https://templeadlib.com/too-much-or-just-enough/ https://templeadlib.com/too-much-or-just-enough/#comments Tue, 09 Mar 2010 15:25:37 +0000 https://smc.temple.edu/ad-lib/?p=377 Advertising Agency: BDDP & Fils / France The copy of this magazine ad reads “Smoking is being a slave to tobacco.” This photo is only 1 of 3 in the public interest campaign put out by Association de défence contre le tabac. What is the creative strategy here? To show that dependency on smoking tobacco as a teen leads to being a slave to it, which supposedly leads to sexual abuse?
