Yay Megan! and I just recently heard from a very reliable source (aka You), that your doing freelance work for them after your internship! Thats so awesome! Getting into freelancing, especially as a writer, can help a lot in your career because of the amount of work you would be working on. It helps to build your portfolio and everything so that’s a great experience to have. Awesome job 🙂

Congratulations on finding an internship, it sounds really exciting! Do not have any fear in your natural abilities. I find that as far as creative ideas are concerned, even when there are deadlines to meet, it is best to just let things come to you. Some of the best copy is so simple i.e. “Got Milk,” and “I’m Lovin’ It.” When you “try” to be creative that’s when the ideas turn out sort of bland, and confusing. Let the store and the products speak to you and I am sure you will do fine. Best of luck!

That makes a lot of sense…. I guess when you remove the pressure of the job itself you’re just left with talent and creativity, and that’s where all the magic happens (when you’re not caught up in what-if’s and how’s). I’m so torn because on the one hand, i’m nervous that I’m not going to deliver on what they expect. On the other hand, I’m nervous that I will do well, they’ll offer me a job, and my learning/experiencing will be haulted and limited to this one company (because how could you turn down a job in this economy?! haha). I guess everything is confusing/scary for us seniors right now. Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Congratulations Megan! I had all the same fears when I started my internship (and I still do). I know how scary it feels to constantly wonder if your work is good enough, but it helps to remember that they don’t view you as an expert, they view you as a learner. If you can make yourself accept that you technically are “just a kid” and you have a lot to learn, the task is much easier to handle. And who knows, maybe they’ll be so impressed with your work and the youthful insight you bring to the company that they’ll be learning from YOU. Good luck, I’m sure you’re doing awesome!

I totally get that feeling. I was so nervous too when i had to do “real” things because i was afraid i would run out of ideas and i didnt want to mess up and lose a client. But dont worry.. im sure you’ll do GREAT!

Megan your internship sounds awesome! I would love to work for a furniture company one day, or any other interior fashion related company. I know what you mean about being afraid of running out of creative ideas. What I feel is best to do is leave the office and walk around outside for a little. The fresh air and excitement around you will strike your creativity and you’ll be ready to go! I think just getting a change in scenery helps get rid of a creative block. I’m sure you’ll do great work for them and I can’t wait to hear more about your experiences! Good luck!
