15 Minutes of Fame

My last week of interning at CBS 3 has made its way here and has given me such a bittersweet feeling. Since my last posting I have performed even more tasks and even made it to live TV!-My appearance was not intentional FYI… So where do I begin? Well, in addition to the continuous shadowing of Account Executives and learning more and more about the digital and television sales industry, I also had the great opportunity to work during the Ronald McDonald phone bank charity event that was broadcast on live TV. This was such an exciting experience and I…

The Importance of Team Chemistry In Business Meetings and Workplace

My name is Alex Richardson and I am currently a senior advertising major focusing in copywriting. For the last three months I have been interning with KYW News Radio. I’ve had two different positions with my internship: ad sales and copywriting. So every Wednesday everyone from the sales department has a business meeting, which are always run by the VP/Senior Executive. After attending these meetings for the past several months, I’ve been able to realize the great chemistry between all the workers for the advertising sales department. And this is mainly because of how the VP handles his workers. Despite the meeting…

Almost done my internship and I would do it again. At PHL17 you are responsible for yourself after given a specific task,  i.e. the real workforce. But it’s a great opportunity to get to learn about other departments at the station, to ask questions and to give you real world experience. After I finish my work and there is nothing else Jeff Finken needs from me I ask other people if they need help or I go and explore.  You get to meet people because you have to interact with them. Not only have I learned from the research I…

So many changes, so quickly…

Working at The Rossi Wellness Center was a great experience – but an odd one, I must say. I was originally hired by to do mostly print ads and general graphic design work, which is much of what I started off doing at the internship. However, as time went on, they wanted to utilize some of my other abilities as well. As a double major in both film and advertising, they thought about using me to do a promotional video in addition to the print work. They were also impressed with my web design work I’ve done in the past…

Mad Women

Today happens to be my last day at 97.5 The Fanatic! I am so thankful for the opportunity to work at such a great radio station. Over the past semester I have been asked to pull air checks, write radio copy, create proposals, (lots of proposals) assist account managers with prospecting, develop ideas for promotions, go on sales calls, and a plethora of other things! This experience has taught me the ins and outs of radio sales. It has taught me that taking the extra few seconds to customize a proposal can make all the difference. The folks at 97.5…

Advice: Take Full Advantage of an Internship

I cannot believe that the semester is almost over, and with it my time at Future Media Concepts. Looking back at my first day in January, the amount that I have learned is amazing. My experience here has gone above and beyond what was expected and I can truly say that I have had an extremely positive experience working as a Marketing intern at this company. Over the past few months, not only have I learned skills to put on my resume, but I have also learned a few lessons in life and the professional world, so I thought I’d…

My internship experience at Clarisse Inc!

I am a social media coordinator intern for Clarisse Inc (Promgirl.net) and I am really enjoying my experience there. I have learned a lot since I started months ago.  I learned how to use Hootsuite, which is a program available online that allows people to manage all social media accounts at the same time. This program is the company’s choice for scheduling and managing all their posts on their social media outlets. I have become so familiar with this program because I use it everyday I’m in the office. Also, I have discovered a lot of different photo-editing websites where…

The Internship and The Job- When Worlds Collide

Hi all, This semester has been a complete whirlwind.  Last Fall I started an account management internship with Star Group and, long story short, I never left!  The agency is growing fast and furious with several different mergers over the past few months and I’ve found myself taking on a slew of brand new projects.  One of the projects that I work on the most was also the very first creative brief I  was handed when I walked through the door on day one. Right before I started last September Star Group launched ShopScape, a blog all that focuses exclusively…

I loved the atmosphere at Rossi…

Being a part of a young, expanding company means a lot of things. It means that if and when it grows, you get to grow with it and be a valuable part of the team. It also means the environment would typically lend itself to a more relaxed, casual atmosphere. This was one of my favorite parts about working at Rossi. While I am very serious about my work and never procrastinate on the job, I’ve always been slightly intimidated and unsettled by that “corporate” atmosphere. The 9-5 job, where you have to punch in every morning and everyone is…

WPHL 17 3

My internship is almost over for the Spring 2014 semester and I am sorry to see it end. I have gained so much that I can use not only use for future jobs and internships but daily life. I have met interesting and successful people and they have all shown me a work place that productively works together to make a TV station or any company successful. I would recommend this internship to a student in any major. I say any major because there is various functions that are needed to make a TV station function. There are sales, creative…

From Corporate to Creative

I am currently a spring semester intern for O3 World, an interactive agency of around 20 people in the Fishtown neighborhood. O3 specializes in brand experiences through websites, digital products, and applications. This is not my first internship, as I had previously interned for a major health insurance corporation over the summer. At this internship I was working in the Marketing department and in a very corporate, professional setting. Coming to O3 I was excited to get a new experience in a smaller, agency setting. O3 has been the perfect place to get this new experience. With a small number…

Working in the basement, but moving up

My dear advertising colleagues, I can only hope that this semester has brought you as much sweat, blood, and tears as it has to me. My name is Hillary Redisch, I am an Advertising Account Manager major about 3 weeks away from graduating, and I’m scared as hell. I’m scared in the best possible way because there is so much to explore and do in the world. I’m allowed to say that because after three internships my experience has taught me there is much more than what we just do in the classroom. This Spring semester I was  able to…

To The Summer and Beyond

As May 15th inches closer and closer I’ve developed a set of serious graduation goggles.  I find myself basking in bursts of nostalgia, thinking about all the wonderful experiences that have shaped me over the last four years at Temple.  Obviously I’m choosing to repress the memories of midnight meltdowns at the Tech Center and the unfortunate bout of food poisoning from the SAC’s sushi.  Throughout my roller coaster of emotion one consistent bright spot has really stood out- my internship with Star Group. I was hired as a paid account management intern last Fall and by the grace of…

Nothing is ever too big or too small.

As this semester is coming to a close, I am now walking the plank of this part-time job at Tierney. It’s all coming to an end and I will need a stable full time position to regulate my life in the “real” world. I’ve learned some incredible things at Tierney and had the pleasure to work with some of the best people in the industry. It can be a tough world out there, but I’m sure everything I’ve learned and accomplished here will serve me well in the future. And here is one of the greatest things I’ve learned: Nothing…

Marketing to the Money

I am in week 9 of 15 as the marketing intern at Isdaner & Company, LLC. Isdaner is a financial firm located in Bala Cynwyd, just minutes outside of Philadelphia. I would consider my work experience to be very unique, because I do not have the typical agency or communications internship.  I enjoy that I am able to use the skills I have and am learning in my courses are being applied to my internship. So far I have made Excel my best friend, we are in constant communication every day that I am here! I have learned a lot about Excel…
