Behind the Reels: My Experience as a Content Creator Intern
My name is Raya Davis and I worked as a content creator intern at THIS IS IT NETWORK during the spring of 2025. This internship took place during my senior year at Temple University and was a great way to transition into real world working post-grad.
I was first interested in this company and opportunity because the CEO was my Personal Branding teacher, Cheldin Barlatt Rumer. I was excited about her class and looked forward to it every week. When I found out she had her own company, brand and network, I was even more excited.
This internship has been nothing but great experience and preparation for what I want to do in the future. I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting because it is only my second internship and each experience is different.
My first day at this internship was a travel day. I had been in communication with Cheldin before in regards to what to expect and what role I would play at THIS IS IT Network, but I had not had any work-related team meetings or assignments up until my first day. A travel day was very exciting to me because I got to go to New York City and I also got to spend 3 hours round trip with the team I would be working with directly. On the way to NYC, I got the chance to hear all about what I would be doing and my plan for the semester.
Once we got to the event (Tech Ware at LinkedIn headquarters) the other intern and I set up the THIS IS IT table and were responsible for handing out cards, inviting people over to talk about the network and learning peoples interests related to television. A big part of my responsibility that night was informing people on what the company is, what it stands for and what it is setting out to be. Being that it was only my first day, besides my pre-internship start research, I did not know much in-depth detail about the company. Having the other intern by my side definitely helped, but in the end it gave me fantastic insight and information about who I was working for and I was set to start my internship work at THIS IS IT.
Ever since then I have been working 12 hours a week on different projects including creating and editing reels/TikToks, creating social media post and copy, and getting to know what working in a growing, face-paced environment is like.
One piece of advice I would give to someone starting their first internship would be to take it day by day. I always worry about starting a new job, but with this one, like many others, I learned it is okay to slow down, ask questions and realize that everyone around you has had a first day so everyone around you knows exactly the way you’re feeling. I am really grateful that I got the chance to be apart of such a great company that shares the same values and focuses that I stand for, and to be able to contribute to a rapidly growing and expanding company that has such a great future ahead.
