Hi! I am Jessica Evans a senior advertising major and I’ve been interning at Thalia Street Digital this semester. As I wrap up my time here at Temple, I was grateful enough to work with a great mentor and gain some real-life experience before graduation this May. I’ve always had an interest in the digital side of advertising and was happy to be able to finally gain the skills needed for professional growth in this industry.

This experience has taught me how to have faith in myself and the work I’m producing. Imposter syndrome is something that really affects me seeing so many people in college accomplishing so many impressive achievements, it is so easy to compare myself to others. Having someone who believed in me and the work I’ve done, has brought out a new confidence in me.

Throughout my time at Thalia Street Digital, I’ve used various platforms like Klayvio, Shopify, Canva, Meta, and worked on multiple accounts like a metal art company, a women’s gym, and a fly-fishing company to name a few. Working with different accounts has made this role more exciting and was a great learning experience in how to tailor your work to a specific client likes and needs.

In my role I worked a lot on strategic email marketing, as well as making graphics and editing reels for social ads. I’ve learned so much on how to navigate Meta and getting to the back end of analytics as well. This Internship gave me a glimpse of how an agency runs and what factors are most important and how that varies for each company and their needs.

Because Thalia Street Digital is a small agency, owned by my mentor, I’ve learned how it differs to what big agencies do. There are strong client relationships, as well as working effectively in a small group and cutting out the big agency style work that has become the norm. I’m very inspired with how much my mentor can accomplish with such a small, but powerful team.

This experience is better than I had thought it would be. Starting this internship, I felt very unexperienced and just simply hesitant of what tasks I would have to do. I can now say I feel that I have accomplished a lot with work I felt confident doing. I’ve made an impact and helped my mentor as much as I could and it showed after seeing the drive in traffic, boosted engagement, and sales. If I could give a piece of advice for others starting an internship, I would say have confidence in yourself and your abilities you know so much more than you think and there is nothing you can’t learn along the way!
