I Got The Opportunity To Help Rebrand A Skincare Company
This semester I have had the pleasure of working as an intern at beauty company, luciskin. Who knew that having this internship during a pandemic would teach me so much.
Going into my internship, I thought I’d be doing normal social media marketing, but with the lockdown happening just a few weeks into working, everything changed. Sparing some extensive details, luciskin thought it would be in their best interest to completely rebrand. That meant that my original expectations of running their social media and ambassador program were out the door. From that point on I pivoted and went straight into rebranding mode. Having the opportunity to work directly with the founder of the company on social media campaigns, new products, packaging, product naming, etc. gave me a level of preparation for graduation greater than I could have ever imagined.
My favorite part of rebranding was coming up with new social media campaigns that were local to the Philadelphia area. I was inspired by my boss to dream up different collaborations with other local businesses, as well as some guerrilla marketing tactics that I think will be fun as well. I think that was one of the most beneficial parts of this internship: having the opportunity to put four years worth of knowledge and actually apply it in the “real world”. I think another takeaway I had from this experience was just a great sense of teamwork. Working with the founder was such an amazing opportunity that I am so grateful for. Also, I noticed that getting to bounce ideas off of each other and being passionate about something really translates into great work.
I think that now, after doing this internship, I am not married to any particular space in advertising. I thought that social media was something that I would thrive in the most, but this internship has given me a lot of confidence in my ability to learn to help however I can, wherever I am needed.
I have actually been using products from this company for over a year now and I’m in love with it. I think it is amazing that you got to intern for them and be apart of their rebranding. Not only were you able to run their social media but you were able to change it up to what you thought would best fit their consumers and that must have been so exciting for you. I definetly love what I have been seeing posted on instagram, so from my point of view you killed it!
