Marketing Meets the Law: My Semester at Temple University Beasley School of Law
Hello, my name is Troy Newby Jr, and I am a double major in Communication Studies and Advertising. This semester, I have had the pleasure of interning at the Temple Beasley School of Law as a Communication Studies and Marketing Intern.
The Temple University James E Beasley School of Law is currently ranked 50th overall by the US. News. The school is known for its strong trial advocacy program, ranked 1st in the nation.
Before starting this internship, I had very little experience with working with marketing, but this semester has allowed me to learn more about how the law school markets its events. I have spent my time conducting competitive analysis of how other law school market their events online, an email campaign analysis, and working on event surveys to obtain feedback on how events have been going at the law school.
Also, another aspect of the position I was unaware of was the content management role. I have also, at times, been tasked with adding landing page links to upcoming calendar events and posting content on the Temple Voices Law School Blog.
While working I have been inspired by seeing the work ethic and hearing about the journeys of the Dean of the Communications and Marketing Department Collen Treml, who went back to school to obtain her law degree, and my supervisor Nicole Eisenstein, who went to Temple to get her MBA.
Overall my experince interning at the law school has been a great one allowing me to learn about the communcation and marketing side of law school operations, while also gaining skills in content management.
