My Experience at Super Friendly
A few months ago I had the opportunity to join an agency called Super Friendly as a design apprentice. As an advertising major at Temple, I focused mostly into the account management track, which gave me very little practice on art direction which is what I am mostly doing at Super Friendly.
At Super Friendly, I’ve been able to develop a new set of skills that will help shape me into the best designer I could be. I think one of the most important things that I’ve learned from my apprenticeship is that it’s easy to learn all of the “required skills” it takes to become a great designer.
It is easy to learn any computer program and create cool things for the world to look at. However, it takes more than computer skills to become a great designer. I think the real challenge comes in when you have to focus on the little details that are part of a bigger picture, and by that I mean, learning how to meet deadlines, having a good use of time management skills and, overall being an great human being!
Life after my apprenticeship will be all about more learning. My desire for learning has increased since I’ve been part of Super Friendly, and I plan to only learn more after I leave. After all, education is all we have in order to grow.
