Pharma Phun
Hello, my name is Kelly McGarry. I am a junior at Temple University, majoring in advertising with a minor in leadership (kind of like public relations). I have gotten the opportunity to intern at an advertising agency in the city this fall semester. The company is called; evoke (lowercase e) interaction. I started in the beginning of August and it has been nothing but an awesome experience.
evoke is a pharmaceutical digital advertising agency that is an umbrella agency along with Tonic, the Public Relations agency, under Huntsworth Health. I am taking the account management track so I have had the opportunity to work with a handful of project managers, and also a senior project manager, whom I report too. The agency atmosphere is everything that we are told in our courses. evoke is a fun and colorful agency even though when people usually think of pharma they think the opposite. Normally, when I think about a pharmaceutical company, I tend to think boring and a dull work load, yet this is the total opposite. I am working hands on with real account material and being integrated into the agency life and the behind the scenes action. So far, I have been able to learn a lot about the actual process of an ad agency and also the project manager’s responsibilities within the accounts and their teams. I went into this internship wanting to be an account manager but as I go along I feel as though I would be a good project manager. I am very lucky to have gotten the opportunity to intern at a pharmaceutical agency because before this I would have never wanted to go into pharma, yet I think I could see myself doing pharma advertising thanks to this internship. This experience has already taught me so much and it is only been two months. I am excited to see what the future brings for me as I continue through this internship.
