Press Releases to Premieres: A Semester with Allied Global Marketing

A reflective look into my semester at AGM

This past semester, I’ve had the opportunity to work as a Marketing and PR Intern for Allied Global Marketing (AGM), a full-service integrated marketing agency with offices nationwide and globally.

AGM specializes in entertainment, lifestyle, and culture. They craft creative, data-driven campaigns for film, streaming, gaming, and consumer brands to engage audiences worldwide.

As a Marketing and PR intern, I helped craft press releases, pitches, and creative campaign ideas for clients. I tracked campaign results and got hands on experience at events like advance movie screenings and influencer promotional campaigns. This role taught me how to communicate with clarity and creativity, strengthened my attention to detail, and gave me hands on experience in the entertainment industry.

A highlight of my internship was getting to assist in the opening of Netflix House at the King of Prussia Mall. Getting to experience and assist in the behind the scenes prep for a grand opening event was exciting and it was eye-opening to learn the work that goes on to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Before beginning my internship, I never considered working in the entertainment industry or PR, but my view has changed as the semester went on. I love the opportunities the entertainment industry opens up as well as the fast paced environment and different kinds of people. I also loved the opportunity to get creative when brainstorming campaign ideas.

To anyone looking to start their first internship, from my experience, I would highly recommend going in with an open mind and being open to trying something you never considered. Internships are an opportunity to learn even if it’s not in your particular field and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity of choice. I’d also recommend asking questions and taking initiative. Pay attention to how your team works and don’t be afraid to share ideas, and most importantly enjoy the experience and make the most out of every learning opportunity.
