The "O" List
When one of your clients is about to be featured on Oprah’s “Favorite Things” list, it’s big. This is especially so for a small agency like MOD Worldwide that deals largely with local clients. One of MOD’s recently acquired clients had come to the company looking for a complete brand re-haul: logo, business card, letterhead, envelope, packaging, website…the works. We happily took it on, and later found out that our client’s product would be in the December issue of O Magazine, on the coveted “O” list. This put the entire office into hyper drive, because now the identity system needed to be done in time for Christmas, to make sure that all orders originating from the “O” list feature would only include rebranded items from the company. Once the office calmed down, it was only a matter of time before we received our early copy of O Magazine. It was amazingly proud for me to be looking at that page with our client’s product featured in such a huge magazine, and I’m sure it was unreal for my bosses and co-workers too. But one thing about an accomplishment like this is that, unless we do something about it, that victory will go unnoticed. So it was my job to essentially brag about our accomplishment to the local business journal and to some PR representatives. “We made the list!”, ran the title, “MOD Worldwide is pleased to announce that one of our clients has made the coveted “O” list”. It felt weird writing to someone about what we had achieved in a way that screamed “Write about this!” without sounding obnoxious or desperate. But the feedback was great. The letter was not only sent to the local business journal and PR agents, but also to all of MOD’s clients and friends. It’s just one more feat that MOD can put under their achievements list. It will be exciting to see the effects that this accomplishment will have on the success of the company in the future.
