We’re Breaking Free…

Hi everyone!

My name is Kelsey and I am the strategy and research intern at ChatterBlast this spring! I’m less than a month away from wrapping up my short-lived career here and I couldn’t be any more thankful for everyone at ChatterBlast.

Although my time here is wrapping up and flying by I am leaving with a heavy heart and a brain full of knowledge. I have learned so much ranging from how agencies run to clientele work, from how to conduct a social media audit to creating and executing a killer presentation.

Not only has my time at ChatterBlast taught me these hard skills, but they have also taught me soft skills that I can apply to my everyday life and not just in my career.

For example, I learned to try new things and get out of my comfort zone without feeling self-conscious. Everybody is so accepting of each other and all the choices they make in life around here. Although this is something you always hear growing up and try to strive for, I have learned at this point that it comes only with time and experience. This also applies to try new things at internships or trying different internships altogether! I’ve had an internship in social media, account management, and now strategy so I’m learned what my strengths and weaknesses are and what I like and dislike.  

ChatterBlast also helped get closer to what I truly want to do for the rest of my career in Advertising. My current track is a dual in Media Planning and Account Management, which I do not regret one bit, but I now know that I really enjoy strategy and digital as well. They allowed me to get my hands in a little bit of everything to really find what piqued my interest the most.   

I’ve also learned how crucial it is to take constructive criticism to your mind and not to your heart. I have always been a passionate and competitive person so I can’t help but put all my blood, sweat, and tears into everything that I do. I’ve learned to accept that my work isn’t perfect, nobody is and that the criticism I receive only makes me better at what I do.

All of these points lead me to my final point which is that I need to start believing in myself and my abilities and be more confident in the work that I put out. This is so crucial in order to be recognized for your worth because others won’t recognize your worth if you can’t either.

These are all huge lessons that I already know will help me make an easier transition into the real world. ChatterBlast has taught me so much knowledge in such a short amount of time and for that, I am very grateful for having received this opportunity.
