Where Stories Begin!
My name is Scott Eller. I am a senior advertising major. Throughout this semester, I’ve had the opportunity to intern at a PR firm called The Untold. I have been learning more about what it takes to be a publicist/PR employee and getting out of my comfort zone with certain tasks I am usually not used to.
My experience
Throughout my experience at The Untold, I have learned a lot of new things and new software. This internship has been different than my previous ones because I am doing more research and pitching to media outlets, which is something I have never done before, and I am glad to get the experience and try new things. I am using software such as MuckRack, which is a database where you can search for different journalists to reach out and pitch an idea to or just contact them in general. Another task I have been doing a lot throughout my time here is creating Excel sheets and putting together the information for different clients to reach out to and pitch. Overall, I have been having a good experience, and I am enjoying learning and trying new things.
What the experience has taught me
This experience at The Untold has taught me that it takes a lot of learning and experimenting in this industry and a lot of time and research and tweaking different things to align with different clients to make your pitch as personable as you need to. It has also taught me a lot more about the industry of advertising/marketing and all the different steps and roles you can play within the industry. Overall, I am enjoying my time here and looking forward to what the future brings and all the different clients that I will be working with.
