Keep It Moving

Before starting an internship of any kind, I was under a certain impression about the formula campaign. The client wants more sales…so- you do the research, you make some ads, you follow the results…Kazam. Right? Nope!

Interning with the project management department at Brownstein, I’ve learned that there is so much more that meets the eye of the campaign process. I’ve witnessed campaigns run from start to finish-with every detail in between. This is essentially the role of project management. You must understand the needs of the client and communicate it properly to the rest of the agency-and most importantly, the creative department. Project management is responsible for giving the guidelines and time-line to the creative. Once the creative comes up with a finished product, it goes through proofing, then to the client. The client then responds with several corrections and proofing themselves.

It’s fixed. It’s sent back. It’s returned with more corrections. And on. And. On.

This cycle continues until the client is ready to have their finished advertisement ready for the world. As tedious as it sounds, the project management department always make it positive experience. They are masters of organization and leadership but bring a sense of humor and fun to any situation. To put it simply, I intern for an incredible group of people! Having such an experience has taught me so much so far, and I’m excited to see where it goes.

  1. Yep, having the same realization. So many corrections until perfection. Internships are different than classes, it is not done until it is perfect no if and or but’s.
