Life at Subaru of America HQ
Hi everyone! My name is Charlotte Saunders, I’m a senior Advertising major, with a Concentration in Account Management. I recently started my second internship with Subaru of America, as an integrated advertising intern! I started at Subaru in May of this year, and it will end in May of 2025 (right around graduation).
Most recently, I have been actively involved in supporting Subaru’s “Share the Love” campaign, an annual initiative running from November 21st to January 2nd, in which Subaru and its retailers donate a minimum of $300 for every new or used vehicle sold or leased. Each retailer can choose up to two local “hometown charities” in addition to supporting our four National Charity Partners: ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels America, and the National Park Foundation. My role in this campaign includes reviewing creative materials to ensure brand consistency, analyzing proofs, assisting with legal disclaimers, and maintaining a cohesive look and feel across all POP (point of purchase) and retailer-specific marketing materials.
I also support on the different Love Promise pillars, the two most recent being Learning and Pets! Subaru Loves Learning (SLL) launched at the beginning of August, and Subaru Loves Pets will launch in the beginning of October (SLP). For learning it was more of an educational experience (no pun intended), in which I took notes, asked questions, and learned the creative process for this kind of campaign. With pets I got to be more hands-on. I got to have some creative input into the POP that will be distributed for retailer adoption or pet events during SLP, as well as take the lead on the car wrap and lobby graphics that we produce for every pillar!
Some super cool things that I have gotten to be apart of this summer include sandwich and placemat making for Cathedral Kitchen, a Love Promise photoshoot, and facilitating two Ted @ work talks with my fellow interns and ad team! These experiences were great learning and volunteer opportunities. They showed me the brands commitment to the community, but also to its own interns. I have been offered countless opportunities to advance my skills, and one of these was public speaking, being given the chance to refine those skills will really help with my future career.
Some additional fun events that I got to experience as an intern at subaru was going to the downtown Camden corporate intern day. We got to meet interns from varying companies located in Camden. We also had the opportunity to Network, and enjoy a panel from the DTC young professional team. Next, I got to experience Topgolf with all my fellow interns, which was a great way to connect and learn more about the other interns! Finally, the last event of the summer was an ice cream social with my bosses. I got to learn more about the both of them, and the path to their current role. It was quite informative, and is helping me shape my own career decisions.
Hello Charlotte!
Your internship at Subaru sounds amazing! I think it is so awesome that you were able to be involved in such a meaningful campaign such as Share the Love! Getting to work on a campaign for a good cause must be incredibly rewarding! It is also super cool that you were able to contribute to the Subaru Loves Pets campaign, and I’m looking forward to seeing more about that when it is released.
The community at your internship seems so positive and uplifting. It’s great that they host events and professional development opportunities for you all! Getting to network with other interns and industry professionals is something I am jealous of, as my internship is remote. It’s inspiring to hear about your experiences at Subaru! Congrats!
Hi Charlotte! I thought that your experience at Subaru was really interesting to read and I was able to learn a lot about Subaru’s work environment. It was also very interesting to learn about Subaru’s campaigns they launched, such as the Subaru’s “Share the Love” campaign, the Subaru Loves Learning program, and the Subaru Loves Pets program! It’s really inspiring to hear how far a company is willing to go to support different communities and nonprofits that are all working for the greater good. Thank you so much for sharing your internship experience, and I hope that you were able to leave with a great experience under your belt!
Hi Charlotte! Reading through your blog post, this internship sounds awesome! They offered you so many opportunities to learn and grow in the field. I especially loved reading about Subaru Loves Pets. These sound like really fun projects!
Charlotte, this internship honestly looks like an awesome experience! I love that you were able to get to know the people working around you, outside of just work. It gives me hope that wherever I end up in my professional career, it’s still going to be an enjoyable experience! It seems like this internship brought you so many different types of interesting experiences, and I hope to find a job like this one day!
