My name is Gabriella Mckeown and I’m currently interning at Ceisler Media & Issue Advocacy, one of the top media advocacy firms in the region. The company prides themselves on being one of the most trusted advocates on the most important issues. What I like most about Ceisler Media is their wide range of clients. They provide services for public agencies, multinational corporations, non-profits, associations and coalitions.

I’m the Media Intern at Ceisler. There are three other interns that mainly work in public relations. Being the only Media Intern I have various responsibilities which include managing weekly content calendars for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, conducting daily media monitoring for national clients, creating graphics for client’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and attending meetings, events and press conferences. After working here for about two and a half months now I can honestly say that I love what I do and who I do it for. Like I said before my favorite part of Ceisler Media is their clients. Some of the clients I work for consist of various non-profits. There is no better feeling than contributing and working on projects with the primarily goal to help people other than themselves. I truly believe in Ceisler Media’s goals and mission and it has made me do a complete 180 in what I actually want to do when I graduate.

Being a senior, graduating in May, I have been on the prowl for a career. At first I was looking for jobs in the art direction realm, because I’m an advertising major on the art direction track, but now I ideally want to work in social media, preferably for a non-profit corporation. My first two internships, I worked as a marketing and advertising intern. After working for Ceisler Media, I have learned that someone working in social media inevitably dabbles in a little bit of everything from advertising to marketing and even some graphic design, which to me seems like the perfect job. I have applied for various social media positions and now all I have to do is get hired… I would get more into the details but that’s for an entirely different blog.

  1. Hi Gabriella,

It’s nice to see that I am not alone in this career search Senior year. I loved what you wrote. I think its interesting when you find out how prepared you are from your prior internship experience, and actually can move into a new space and excel. I had no idea that as a social media intern you would be able to dabble in other parts of the trade. I thought simply because social media is already so extended that would be primary focus entirely. Its pretty cool you were able to have all these experiences to get to see what you really want to do. I wish you luck with the rest of your career search.

  2. This sounds like an awesome experience! I’m currently the only media intern at my current internship. Having the workload to myself makes me love digital marketing more and more everyday.
