Really? Windows Phone…

“It’s time for a phone to save us from our phones.” People spend so much time on their phones they’re missing out on life. Interesting concept. I suppose Windows Phone is so fast that each of these people can do what it is they do and still have enough time left over to live. It sounds like a great idea… really. I don’t have a smart phone, so I don’t have this problem, but I will say that it piques my interest.

Here’s the “mama spot.” There are a number of “baby spots” too.

It’s cool that this ad has an escalating feel to it, but it’s really overdone with this classical music motif. The visuals work well with the music, but it’s so old! And not in a good way. Is it really that important that the music is royalty free (public domain)? I don’t know maybe it’s just me. Maybe the average Joe responds to this because it’s so familiar. All it does is remind me of Looney Tunes. I could write an entire essay about why certain advertising conventions are so stale especially when it comes to music.

Anyway, Windows Phone seems to be positioned as preventive measure implying that people are headed for disaster if they continue on with the current offerings (iPhone, Droid, Blackberry, Evo, etc.) Here’s the laid back “daddy spot.” It’s not as exciting, but the message is stronger and more concise. I guess we’ll have to wait see if Microsoft pushes the actual benefits. I don’t quite understand especially as a non-smart phone user.
