Social Media 101

It’s my 5th week at At Media. So far, I’ve learned a lot about things I thought I had already mastered like social media. Facebook and Twitter alone can be used in ways I didn’t know about for marketing and promotional purposes. What you say, how you say it, who you involve is all a delicate process and needs to be done correctly. It seems so simple posting the specials for a local bar or a sale for a clothes store but truly engaging your audience, talking with them instead of at them, is a skill that I’m learning to perfect. My bosses gave me and the other marketing intern a rundown of how to use social media effectively: how to post, what to post, how to engage users, what posts get the most feedback, what works, what doesn’t. It was very useful and though I’m still learning, I feel I’ve greatly improved. I knew when I started at At Media that I would learn a lot, but I wasn’t expecting to learn so much about sites I use daily.

  1. Kim,
First off congrats on turning 21!!! Secondly, tell me more!!! I’m working as an intern with a brand new company that helps students find off campus housing and I’m in charge of the social media aspect! If your down at Temple next week lets sit down and discuss this at the horse and I’ll buy you a drink for your birthday!
