3 Tips to Utilizing Klein Connect Effectively
To all Klein students, if you are not a part of the Klein Connect portal then you must join right now! Klein Connect is an exclusive internship and job portal that connects current students and alumni to career opportunities. Because of this resource, I was able to successfully land three internships and two brand ambassador positions with companies such as Coca-Cola and Insomnia Cookies. By following these three steps you will be on your way to building your resume and professional connections in no time:
Check your email:
Checking your email may seem like a mindless task but this is the most effective step in finding potential career opportunities. It’s hard to stay on top of all the postings that are sent out daily, but by simply scrolling through each email you can ensure you aren’t missing out. Be sure you are reading the short summaries attached to the listings since job titles don’t always accurately desribe what the employer is looking for.
Update your online profile:
Think of your online profile as a basic LinkedIn profile. Your online, working portfolio in a sense. Klein Connect allows you to upload: personal statements, skills, projects, and experience, so add as much as possible. You are constantly growing and learning so make sure your profile showcases this! It is also crucial you are always uploading your newest resume onto the portal so that so that your application pieces are as relevant as possible.
Apply, Apply, Apply:
Applying to these available positions is the most important step! You can’t expect to gain experience if you aren’t putting yourself out there. Even if a position seems like a stretch for you and your current skills, internships are all about learning. If you are showing interest by applying and are correctly showcasing your skills, more often than not, employers will be reaching out to set up an interview. Most of the time, applying means just sending over your resume. It can’t get much simpler than that!
By following these three simple yet important steps, I was able to build my professional experience from the ground up, something that everyone is able to do.
