Behind the scenes of your favorite Instagram brand shoots!
Greetings to everyone! My name is Christian Balemlay, and I currently work remotely with Plugged NYC in their social media division, addressing client requests, brainstorming new ideas, creating social media content, and so on. Despite all of the challenges that might come with online internships, I feel like I had much more direct and impactful work during my second social media internship.
I happened to be in Los Angeles during spring break, and one of our fashion coordinators told us she was working with a music artist who had an impending video shoot for Billboard Music x Rolling Stone where they asked to include Plugged clothing and styling. She then invited me to join her on site and help her complete all Plugged Looks for artist Doechii. I suggested and assisted with clothing for three days in order to get all looks arranged and looking their best on our artist.
I never realized how much time and effort it takes to create a video that lasts for less than 5 minutes. For example, there was a reshooting of the same footage ten times, which was meshed into only one full clip of roughly 8 seconds. Every component of the shoot has a significance and an influence on the end product, demonstrating how successfully working as a team can genuinely bring your vision to life. With the direction of my Advertising: Account Management degree, I respect this experience and all I’ve done since it has given me a better understanding of the different sectors in which I may work within the future.
Hi Christian! This is such a cool opportunity you got to experience, I’m jealous! It’s very cool to learn about how much goes into things that seems so quick and simple when we view it on our TV or computer screens. Its great that you got to experience a more creative side to the advertising world even though you are in account management. This can definitely broaden your knowledge in the future when you may be working alongside different sections in an advertising company. I really enjoyed reading this and wish you best of luck in the future!
