Advertising in the Entertainment Industry
Hello! I’m Melissa, a senior advertising major who is currently interning at Allied Integrated Marketing. Allied is a PR and marketing firm in Center City whose clients are mainly lifestyle and entertainment brands. I’ve had the chance to work on projects for the MET, A24 Studio, Mattel and more!
One of my favorite projects that I’ve gotten to work on was for the movie, The Disaster Artist. The film is based on an older movie called, The Room. So, we’ve been doing screenings of The Room and giving away tickets to The Disaster Artist. I got to reach out to different businesses to see if they’d like to attend The Room screenings, and many were interested! We also had to send out packages filled with T-Shirts, plastic spoons, globes, and footballs to different theaters that were showing The Room. I didn’t know this beforehand, but apparently people throw these things at the screen at different times in the movie. It seems like a fun showing to see, and I had a lot of fun promoting it.
I’ve learned so much about market research, pitching to social media influencers and event planning. I’ve had a great time at Allied and would recommend any advertising student to learn about PR. I didn’t know much about the world of PR before this internship, but I now see how important it is to any advertising campaign.
