Content Development, Project Support, and Rebranding

Hello everyone! I am Jessica Gian and am currently in my senior year of college studying Advertising with concentrations in Art Direction and Brand Strategy & Research at Klein.

Hi, everyone! I’m Jessica Gian and am currently in my senior year of college studying Advertising with concentrations in Art Direction and Brand Strategy & Research at Klein. I recently started a new internship with SAP, a software and technology company, as a Content Development and Project Support Intern. Through SAP, my internship is under the SAP iXp Internship Experience Program, a program designed to support and challenge undergraduate and graduate students with real projects and collaborative teams. As an intern within the program, I have the opportunity to connect with other interns within the program from different countries and offices across the world, expanding my network while also making new connections!

As a Content Development and Project Support Intern, I work with the Global Customer Advisory Operational Team, a small but mighty team within Sales and Presales at SAP that helps to provide information, support, and central operational oversight for SAP’s customer-facing experts and subject matter experts from various teams as a whole. Through content development and design, I help rebrand existing content, videos, and visual resources for the internal teams, external users, and customers, making content more accessible while also making content to match the existing brand’s look and feel.

This experience itself has further pushed my determination to make content more accessible while enhancing the overall user experience. Within an ever-changing world, I’ve found it important to continuously update content for users to ensure the best experience for different audiences. With the right access to the proper resources, I can help provide useful information for everyone who needs it to make their life easier.

Some advice that I would give others looking for jobs or internships is to:

  • Use all the resources you can access
    • No matter where you are, it’s important to use all the resources, materials, and learning tools you can get your hands on! Whether it be through digital resources or having coffee chats with fellow team members, it’s always important to keep on learning and updating your skills!
  • Explore different career fields and disciplines.
    • If there is one thing I encourage everyone to do, it is to at least explore different fields as a potential career path! Every field may be different from one other, but you will never know when a good opportunity may come your way if you never look for it yourself.
  • Look into your network.
    • Sometimes even the most common connections through colleagues or friends can be very beneficial when looking for internships or work opportunities.
  • Ask for feedback
    • If there’s anything that you’re confused about or not confident in your work, it’s important to keep in mind that you can reach out to your manager or fellow coworkers for tips or feedback! Feedback will always provide you with good insight on how to improve your work.

As someone who has had different internships at different sectors, companies, and non-profits, having a diverse portfolio of internship and work experience has provided me with different valuable skills and insight that I continue to rely on to this day. Working within SAP as an iXp intern has truly provided me with more experience in terms of working on a global team, working through schedules and timelines, and learning different skills unrelated to advertising and marketing. Overall, I’ve had a very valuable and insightful internship experience at SAP, and I continue to look forward to seeing what the next project takes me!
