Interning at First Up
I’m currently an intern at First Up, an early education program that assists daycare providers with resources to better educate their children. I collaborated with the external affairs department, handling advocacy and event tasks. My position is to assist with social media and to provide tracking for First Up meetings and Zoom chats. Interning at First Up has been an extraordinary experience, with meaningful tasks to be a part of.
Working on the company’s social media ‘Get Out to Vote’ campaign for the 2020 primary election has been a learning experience. I learned how to connect with different types of audiences through social media: creating captions and images with information on how and where voters in Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery County could vote.
Also, I learned how to efficiently locate important information and graphics and how to create an effective caption (short and simple with links provided). I enjoyed learning how to engage with First Up Social media followers through different forms: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. For example, different times of the day can get different responses – the most engagement with First Up followers happened during the morning between 7 am-9 am. I learned a lot, and happy I got to experience working with the wonderful staff at First Up.
