My Experience with my First Internship
My name is Micaiah West and I am currently a rising senior at Temple University. I am currently studying Advertising with a concentration in Brand Strategy. This summer, I landed my first internship and so far it has been one of the best experiences for me and I am excited to see how this will further shape my future. I may have just started this internship, but it has already made a lasting effect on me.
When looking for an internship I searched with an open mind. Although I had experience in retail and working in e-commerce, I still believed it was important to try new things so I could determine what career path I would want to take once I graduate. I never expected to work with a non-profit organization and I am happy that I decided to pursue this internship. I am currently the partnership strategy intern for Ful-Phil. Ful-Phil is a non-profit organization that gives children the opportunity to start their own businesses. Knowing that I am helping make a difference in a child’s life, even if it’s in a small way, is rewarding for me and is possibly something that I could want to do in the future. I am happy I decided to venture out and try to work in a new environment rather than sticking to what was comfortable for me. If I hadn’t done that then, I would’ve never been able to experience helping a child shape their future.
