My Internship at a Non-Profit – Revolution Lancaster
This Summer, I was a Marketing and Social Media intern for Revolution Lancaster. My experience at Revolution Lancaster was pretty different because Revolution isn’t an advertising agency, it’s a non-profit organization. Throughout the past few months, I’ve been able to gain experience and develop my skills in many different ways.
The main tasks that I worked on during the course of the Summer were mainly designing and making posts for Revolution’s social media platforms. By doing that, I was able to learn more about Adobe Photoshop and learn new skills. I was given other tasks sometimes, like creating marketing materials for markets that the organization goes to, since they don’t’ have a physical store to sell their products.
Overall, my experience has been different than others for many reasons. First, I worked fully remotely during my time at Revolution. Secondly, I had to think of things from the perspective of our main demographic, 50-60 year old women. Despite a lot of challenges, I’m really grateful for my experience at Revolution because of the experience it gave me working with a 501C-3 non-profit organization. Another cool experience was that Revolution is a social enterprise, which means that Revolution’s main objective is to achieve certain social objectives before making a large profit.
