The Devil Wears Prada: Jewelry Edition

This semester I had the opportunity to work at a Jewelry Showroom in Soho; Mega Mega Projects. I was a PR Intern and did all types of things such as sample trafficking, pulling jewelry for clients, running jewelry from place to place, creating pull logs and managing simple things like the Jewelry Showroom. My time at Mega Mega taught me a lot, but the thing that stayed with me most is I am not that great at waking up before 6:30am. Every Wednesday and Friday, I woke up between 5:00am and 5:30am, took a shower, cooked breakfast and put it away to eat on my 7:00am bus to New York City. Every Wednesday and Friday I regretted my decision to intern allllllll the way in NYC, two hours away from where I schooled and worked. But as soon as I saw the NYC skyline it made it all worth it. In the beginning, I pictured myself as Andrea from the Devil Wears Prada and my boss as Miranda Priestly, but thankfully she was way wayyyyy nicer and I didn’t have to run around doing crazy errands for her and her family. Everything I did was meaningful. But this didn’t stop me from being Andrea. When running around New York doing drop offs and pick ups for our jewelry (and finally figuring out how to navigate the hectic train line) I remembered my child hood dreams of living in the big city, and being a journalist living a luxurious life and everything seemed a little more tangible for me. But the best part of my internship, was interacting with all the amazing jewelry and accessories. Every Wednesday and Friday not only did I get to work in the city of my dreams, I got to interact with the most beautiful elaborate jewlery and send it out to some of my favorite magazines. I wasn’t living the life of Andrea in the Devil Wears Prada, but it was for sure just as pretty. This internship taught me a lot about the Fashion Industry and the world of PR in it.
