Waaaaake Up Philadelphia!
Hey everyone! My name is Lindsay Webber and I am a senior here at Temple studying advertising. Over the past few months I have been interning with two of Philly’s top radio stations, Wired 96.5 and 92.5 XTU. So far, I have had an overall positive experience with the two companies. Before this internship I never really thought of pursuing a career in either the music or radio industry, but over the course of these past few months I have grown to truly enjoy this career environment. I have worked closely with both the promotional side of the radio station and the advertising sales department in order to gather a well-rounded idea of how the company operates.
There have been many perks to working for Philly’s radio stations. My job as a promotions intern is to run station events in the surrounding area, which include both working closely with the station’s jocks and the opportunity to meet artists in the music industry. So far I have had the luxury of meeting country artists Kip Moore and Tyler Farr while attending station events. I have also become very acquainted with the on air cast such as Doc, Andie and Crockett from XTU’s morning show, who just recently won a CMA award for best personality. I have had so many positive experiences thus far, and I can only hope that my place at the station continues far beyond the termination of my internship.
I am glad you are enjoying you time there. I intern at WMMR, so I believe we are in close proximity to each other. Although you do new intern duties (lunches, etc.) did you feel going into it, you were above coffee getting? Has that opinion changed at all? Or is it just something you saw as a job description.
This really sounds like an awesome internship. It must be really cool to be involved in the music industry, and meet all the artists. I could definitely see myself doing this.
