93.3 WMMR Intern

Hello fellow readers and interns! I am Kelly. I am currently in my final semester as an Advertising Account Management major.

This past semester, I have been interning with the Sales Department at 93.3 WMMR. Before starting the internship, I was very eager to see what I would be completing on a daily basis. The radio industry is an interesting industry that not many get to be a part of. I was most excited to see the workings of a radio station because it’s not something you can learn in a classroom or a textbook. Having heard about radio in previous classes, I still didn’t know what to expect. So far the experience has been great and everyone was extremely welcoming.

The sales department of a radio station has many vital parts in the running of a successful radio station. They are the ones who find every sponsor that advertises on the station and during their events throughout the year. While the campaigns for each client are running, the Account Managers show the advertiser exactly what they have gotten. This comes in the form of photo recaps and airchecks, which the interns are responsible for creating. Aside from photo recaps and airchecks, there are many other tasks the intern can be responsible for. Whatever the Account Manager’s need of the intern, we are there to help!
