The fall semester is coming to a close. My student career at Temple is nearing its end. But it looks like my time at MOD has only just begun. By the grace of the employment gods I have been offered a full time position at MOD Worldwide. I could not have asked for a more rewarding opportunity. My internship with MOD has taught me and exposed me to so much of the advertising industry already. In the past few months I’ve been given the chance to help brand a company. I took part in brainstorming names and logos for the new business, designing web site comps and taking part in critiques of all design work. I was put in charge of pursuing new leads for MOD, including creating a database of the leads and putting together and sending out packages to contacts. I was also asked to research new technologies that may help advance MOD’s business in the future.
Now it seems as though I will get to continue doing what I’m doing, and then some. My new position at MOD will consist of a smorgasborg of duties that include everything from design and design reviews to researching and pursuing new ways to make the company more successful. It will be a lot of work, and a lot of responsibility, but the experience and the knowledge that I will be able to absorb will be incomparable.
I think it’s extremely important to point out that I would have never had this opportunity had I not taken part in this internship that I found through Temple. You cannot question the value of participating in an internship before leaving college. Not only is there a ton of experience and information to be had that you probably would not get just from classes, but there is always the opportunity to find employment right out of college. If there was one thing I could urge an upcoming student to do, it would to get an internship, as many as you can, because it can be the most beneficial experience of your college career.
