Hello! I’m Bella Williams, a senior advertising major, currently interning at Focus Bryn Mawr, a small community-based yoga studio in the heart of Bryn Mawr. Today, I want to share my experience as a social media intern.

Throughout my journey with this internship, I discovered the importance of connecting with your consumers, especially as a small business. A great part of the yoga studio has to do with the relationship the studio has with the community. I was in charge of creating engaging posts to keep people interested in our events and crafting campaigns that highlighted what makes our studio unique. This role gave me the chance to dive deeper into social media analytics to understand what resonates with our audience, helping me continuously optimize our social media strategy. The feedback from the community has been incredibly positive, often highlighting how they feel more connected to the studio through our interactive and informative posts. With this feedback, we’ve even been able to make a new campaign highlighting our positive feedback.

My internship experience has ignited my desire to pursue a career in social media advertising. I found myself making graphics outside of the work I was assigned and texting my boss about new ideas I had for the studio! I’ve always loved social media, but before this internship, I had never considered it as a career.

Coming into this internship I wasn’t sure what to expect because I’d never interned anywhere else before. I was anxious about getting overwhelmed with the internship while being a full time student. But soon after I got the hang of it I realized it was way less stressful than I would have imagined and I enjoyed creating graphics for the studio. With that being said, whether you are starting a new internship or going into an internship with no experience I would say to not over stress yourself about it. I ended up loving my internship and still having time to do my school work while having a part-time job. Even if the internship is not something that you love, it still gives you an idea of what you want to or don’t want to do in your future career, which is a really important insight to gain.

  1. Hello Bella,

I really enjoyed reading about your internship experience at Focus. The organization seems like the perfect place to grow advertising skills while also working on a client-facing business. I hope everything goes well in your internship.
