Philly Mag Intern: Philly Cooks Event

One of the perks of being an ad sales intern at Philadelphia magazine definitely has to be my involvement with the events the magazine sponsors. My very first one was the February Philly Cooks event, a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House that featured cooks from many of Philadelphia’s most fabulous restaurants. It was held at the Historic Strawbridge Building on Market St.

I worked at will call at the big event, and it was interesting to see all the different media industries come together to make Philly Cooks a success. By that, I mean checking in press, PR, Philadelphia socialites and bloggers, etc. all who were desirable guests for the event. I checked in the advertisers themselves, such as guests from Infiniti, a company that was a main sponsor at Philly Cooks. It was great to see the interactions and blending of many different industries of which I have interest in. The more media that attended the event, the better the publicity would be, and the more likely that the event will be able to happen again.

Working the Philly Cooks event has definitely been my favorite experience thus far, mainly because of the excitement that came along with the atmosphere, and the enjoyment of seeing everyone’s hard work come to life in one special and delicious night.
