A place where I can “elevate”

I joined Elevate expecting to just improve my design skills, but what I actually gained was so much more valuable.

My name is Kevin Grace and I’m a senior advertising major with concentrations in art direction and brand strategy and research. I am currently interning at Elevate Healthcare Marketing as their Art Intern. I joined Elevate expecting to just improve my design skills, but what I actually gained was so much more valuable. Here are 3 things that I secured during my internship:

  1. A supportive team. I felt like I was a part of the team from day one. On my first day in-person at the office, I was given a tour, invited to join everyone for lunch, and was introduced to my co-workers. Leadership made me feel welcomed by dedicating specific time and making it clear that I am an important part of the organization. Whether you’re the intern, or the owner of the company, everyone is treated with the same amount of respect and dignity.
  2. Thinking outside the box. Over the course of this internship, I have learned that there are numerous rules when it comes to healthcare advertising. There are so many restrictions in the industry and I feel as though it forces me to be even more creative with my ideas. I really have to think outside the box to achieve what has to be done, while also making sure there are no legal issues.
  3. A love for healthcare advertising. The work I create has a direct impact on our world. Majority of the work I do is targeted towards healthcare professionals and educates them on various diseases, drugs, medical devices, etc. I am always looking for ways to help those around me within my community. By combining my passion for design with my compassion for others, I am able to work for causes that I believe in while also improving upon my design skills. I am creating work that is meaningful, impactful, and has a purpose.

We may be a small agency, but, boy, are we mighty. The most important thing I gained during this internship was a sense of purpose and belonging in a company I feel like I can grow in. I can’t wait to see my career “elevate” to the next level.
