Hi, my name is Alexis Peele. I’m a senior advertising major with an account management concentration. I currently work as an Accounts Apprentice at Cohere.

During my freshman year as an advertising student at Temple, I envisioned myself senior year with a few internships under my belt and awesome study abroad stories to reflect on. Unfortunately, for myself and everyone else in the world COVID-19 and pandemic restrictions put a halt on most of my future endeavors – to top it all off, I still hadn’t secured an internship.

In the fall semester of my senior year, I enrolled in Diamond Edge Communications, which is a student-run ad agency that works with real clients and is overseen by a professor (I highly recommend taking this class – even if you already received credit for an internship). Before one of our classes my professor, Joe Glennon, introduced the class to the Bird Feeder Speaker Series which were virtual talks hosted by professionals and industry leaders within the advertising and public relations field.

That’s where I met Antoinette Johnson, the founder of Cohere, a creative agency serving projects at the intersection of place + food + hospitality. The benefit of the Bird Speaker Series was that in a way it became an informational interview where I was able to learn more about the agency and the work it has done.

After speaking with Antoinette, I was interviewed and given the opportunity to join the team as an Accounts Apprentice. Within this role I work closely with the Founder and and Director of Business Development as a liaison between them and clients. I also work cross functionally with the design and strategy team. At Cohere, I work within account management, but my input is also needed within strategy, design, and web development. With weekly team meetings and constant support from my supervisor I have grown tremendously in the past six months.
