Book Suggestions from Mccann Erickson and Avis Budget Group

Over the summer, at my internship with Avis Budget Group, I came across a lot of great books that will be helpful in the future. I wanted to share these great reads with you.

1. Delivering Happiness, a Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose

By the CEO of Zappos, Tony Hsieh.

When I first started my internship at Avis Budget Group (ABG), my department gave me this book to read. I interned with a new department called the Customer Led Experience (CLE) Department. The department is only about a year old and the idea behind it is not only young toAvis Budget Group, but to many companies, and ABG’s CLE department is at the forefront of this idea. In the beginning of the CLE department, this book played a huge role in shaping the department. The idea is about creating a company culture, and this book talks about the importance of a strong company culture and what a good, strong company culture is. I highly recommend that you take a look at it. I learned at my internship that many companies are very interested in how a company culture can benefit their company and having some knowledge about it will be beneficial to you when you graduate.

The Next 3 books I have listed here were recommended to me from the account planner at Mccann Erickson:

2. Seducing the Boys Club: uncensored Tactics from a Woman at the Top

By Nina DiSesa

Girls interested in Advertising should definitely read this book. And Guys could benefit from it as well! Nina DeSisa tells how she used seduction and manipulation and her feminine side to get to the top of the ladder at an Advertising Agency. She met much resistance from the “Boys Clubs” but found her way in. When I visited Mccann, everyone had read this book ( The author is the chairman of Mccann Erickson New York). She comes from the creative side of the industry and would be especially relatable to woman in the creative adverting track. But this book is also great for those of you who aren’t in the creative track, or who are not perusing advertising at all!  Boys, too! This book will help you heighten your awareness of the ways you may be seduced and manipulated!
