Finding My Voice at THIS IS IT NETWORK

While looking for internships, one thing was clear to me, I wanted to work in a supportive and uplifting environment. I’m happy to say this goal has been accomplished. I’m currently an intern with THIS IS IT NETWORK. THIS IS IT NETWORK is a digital streaming platform owned by Cheldin Barlatt Rumer, a genuinely inspiring woman dedicated to sharing remarkable women and their inspiring stories with a global community. I was lucky enough to meet Cheldin during my time at Temple University and she welcomed me to the team with open arms.

During the first half of this Spring semester, I’ve been working on developing engaging content for THIS IS IT NETWORK through editorial work such as, writing various blog posts each week and creating an image to suit each post. As a first-time intern, I quickly learned that if I had a question, I had the people and resources around me to have it answered. Through owner, Cheldin Barlatt Rumer, and my previous supervisor, Lauren Trunfio, all of my questions were answered. I had to learn how to write to an audience that I had never previously explored and I had fun while doing it.

As the semester continues, so does the fun at THIS IS IT NETWORK. After telling Cheldin that I would love to explore the event side of things with THIS IS IT NETWORK, she happily is allowing me to do so. Although I loved my previous editorial role, I knew I wanted to do more. My advice to other interns who are looking to branch out more within their network is to do it! Cheldin was extremely supportive when I informed her of my other interests and was happy to help me along the way. My next steps with THIS IS IT NETWORK will now be more into the event side of things and I couldn’t be more excited to see where the rest of my experience takes me.
