Internin’ at the Ranch (Red Tettemer)

Hello! I’m Jillian Zimmer and I’m a senior here at Temple studying Advertising, Art Direction. I’ve been an intern at Red Tettemer + Partners for almost 2 months now, and my experience has been nothing short of awesome. It’s almost hard for me to pinpoint what I can discuss in this one blog post considering the amount of stuff I’ve been doing, so let me give you a quick overview of my duties so far at the ranch.

I’m a creative intern, and I basically help any of the creatives here with, well, anything. The amount of trust I am given and real experience I am getting is amazing.

I’ve been given countless creative briefs and told to just concept ideas. I’ve come up with logo designs. I’ve put together comps. I’ve created style guides. I’ve worked with and been exposed to clients such as Planet Fitness, SEPTA, Dial for Men, Under Armour, Arctic Ease, TuB gin and more. I’ve sat in on briefing meetings, watched postproduction color matches, and met some of the most creative people in the Philadelphia advertising world. I get to exercise my knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign daily, as well as my ability to find ideas. My work is rarely busy work and it is clear that the agency really believes that good ideas can come from anywhere.

Something pretty exciting that happened here in the last week was the 2wenty5ifth floor party. This is a party that Red Tettemer hosts every year, celebrating the creativity all over Philadelphia. There were over 1000 people on the invite list this year, and seeing it come together was pretty cool.  Los Angeles based band Ozomatli even performed on the roof, and there was enough beer, wine, and TuB gin around to last until next year. Helping with the set up for the party, watching the band, and sticking around until the last coat was taken from the coat check was just another evening that made my experience here a little bit more fun.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of my time here brings and the projects I’ll get to be a part of. Red Tettemer is an awesome agency full of amazingly creative people and I’m so happy I get to be a part of it.
