Knowing what you don’t know

As I look back on this semester as an intern at the Avenue of the Arts, I feel that it was a great start to my career.  I not only gained experience, but I also realized what I didn’t know, which I think is an important aspect of interning.  There’s a quote by Donald Rumsfield about knowing that I think really sums up what I’m trying to say.

“There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns.
That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don’t know we don’t know.”

When I think about my experience at my internship- I realize that was able to learn what I don’t know; which in turn will lead to me learn what I know I don’t know.  As we intern other places and eventually land a job after graduation- we’ll constantly be going through this process. We just always have to be open and willing to learn in order to be exposed to what we don’t know.

Just something I was thinking about-

Anyway, have a great summer!
