Philly Ad Club Agency Crawl 2011

What better way to spend a rainy Friday afternoon then visiting Philadelphia ad agencies?

Friday was the annual Philly Ad Club Agency Crawl.  50 students from universities and colleges across the Philadelphia region gathered to “crawl” from ad agency to ad agency in Center City, touring their facilities and seeing reels of their work.  This was my second year as a “crawl” participant, and I was looking forward to the event for weeks.

We had the opportunity to visit three different agencies: Red Tettemer and Partners, Neiman Group and The Star Group.  All were distinctly different, yet all very inspiring and cool in their own way.

Our first stop was Red Tettemer.  This was by far my favorite office space; it used to be a two-floor loft apartment, and had many of the original architectural details.  It was a very laid back and creative environment…they even had an office dog and cat (which is awesome, even though I’m allergic to cats!) Since Red Tettemer recently merged with Stick N’ Move, everything was a bit chaotic.  We still had the opportunity to meet with partner Steve O’Connell, who showed us some great work and gave us very honest tips for starting our careers.

Five blocks away was our second stop, Neiman Group.  Neiman Group is well known for their interactive approaches and inspiring work.  They handle a wide variety of accounts, from Sunoco to the state of Pennsylvania.  We were even lucky enough to pick the brain of chairman Steve Neiman himself.  I was particularly moved by Neiman Group’s Full Apologies campaign for teen drinking and driving awareness.  Check out the full campaign here: https://fullapologies.com/

The last stop was The Star Group, a full-service agency that is known for branding and client relations.  Nothing goes unnoticed at The Star Group; from branding and packaging to interactive media and live customer experiences, they cover it all!

Overall it was an excellent experience.  We were given an excellent opportunity to network and explore what type of agencies we may want to end up at someday.  If you have the opportunity to participate in this event in the future, do not hesitate!
