Hi! My names Olympia, a senior advertising major interning at Red Tettemer O’Connell + Partners (RTO+P), this wasn’t my first internship or my second, but it definitely was an experience to remember. My time at RTO+P has been unforgettable, working with seasoned advertising professionals who inspired me so much throughout this experience!

Introduction to The Agency

I started interning with RTO+P this spring as an account management intern. During this experience, I’ve mastered the art of multitasking, being adaptable and resilient in the face of any new challenges that may arise. RTO+P is renowned for its innovative approach to advertising, and being part of this esteemed agency has been nothing short of inspiring. From brainstorming sessions to client meetings, I’ve had the chance to witness firsthand creativity and strategic thinking that drives successful campaigns.

Diving into Account Management

As an account management intern, I was tasked with supporting the account team in various aspects of client communication, compiling research reports, or coordinating timelines, I quickly learned the importance of attention to detail and effective communication. Building a relationship with clients is essential for someone in this role.

Team Dynamics

At RTO+P, team collaboration is at the core of everything we do. As part of the account team, I had the privilege of working alongside talented individuals from multiple departments including production, creative, social, and strategy. The collaborative environment fostered creativity and out of the box thinking, allowing us to tackle challenges head on and deliver exceptional results for our clients winning multiple awards and recognition.

Throughout my internship, I’ve learned countless lessons that will undoubtedly shape my future career in advertising. From honing my communication skills to learning how to nurture client relationships, every experience has contributed to my growth as a professional. Above all, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for working with such skilled, creative individuals and strategic thinking in driving successful campaigns.

Looking Ahead

This experience has impacted my professional growth immensely, I’ve had tremendous growth and I carry a wealth of knowledge and experiences that will serve me well in the future. My time as an account management intern has been nothing short of transformative, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry.

Advice to my Peers

If there’s any advice I can give someone, it’s to show up for yourself everyday and not be timid in asking as many questions as you can to learn more about the industry and your role. Network! Take the time to build relationships with your mentors and colleagues. Don’t be scared to put yourself out there and most importantly, be your true authentic self and never doubt yourself!

  2. Hi Olympia, unfortunately, we worked opposite schedules, but we both interned at RTOP together! I was in the maker department. I am an account management track so I was also interested in account as well. It is cool to hear what your experience was from the account side of things.
